DCCLOSER 2015 Best PhD Project Award
Fabian Glaser was awarded the best PhD Project Award for his paper and presentation entitled "Towards Domain Model Optimized Deployment and Execution of Scientific Applications in Cloud Environments" at the Doctoral Consortium on Cloud Computing and Services Science. The doctoral consortium was collocated with the 5th International Conference on Cloud Computing and Services Science (CLOSER 2015). -
Bug Bash Winner at the ICST 2015
The Bug Bash is an ad-hoc session, where testers are asked to find as many failures as possible within a short amount of time within a previously unknown software. Steffen Herbold won the Bug Bash together with Tanja Vos from the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, Spain at the 8th IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation in Graz. -
PROMISE 2013 Best Paper Award
Steffen Herbold was awarded the best paper award of the 9th International Conference on Predictive Models in Software Engineering (PROMISE 2013) for his paper "Training data selection for cross-project defect prediction". -

Edith Werner and Jens Grabowski were awarded a best paper award of the 3rd International Conference on Advances in System Testing and Validation Lifecycle (VALID 2011) for their paper "Model Reconstruction: Mining Test Cases". -
VALID 2010 Best Paper Award
Thomas Rings and Jens Grabowski together with their co-author Stephan Schulz (Conformiq Software OY, Espoo, Finland) were awarded a best paper award of the 2nd International Conference on Advances in System Testing and Validation Lifecycle (VALID 2010) for their paper "On the Standardization of a Testing Framework for Application Deployment on Grid and Cloud Infrastructures". -
DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis 2008
The master thesis "Detection of feature freezes using clustering algorithms" by Steffen Herbold was rewarded with the DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis 2008. The DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis is this year awarded for the 6th time by the "Deutschsprachige Anwendergruppe für Software-Metrik und Aufwandschätzung e.V." (DASMA). Next to the thesis of Mr. Herbold, another thesis was this year awarded with this price. The master thesis of Steffen Herbold belongs to the field of analyzing software development processes based on data mining in software archives. A software archive contains multiple versions of a software and thus reflects the development process of the software. In this context, data mining can be seen as the gathering of metric data of several versions of a software. The aim was to try, if statistical learning methods could be used to analyze the mined metric data. This was a success. Steffen Herbold was supervised collectively by Prof. Waack (Theoretical Computer Science Group), Prof. Neukirchen (since October 2008 at the University of Iceland, Reykjavik, Island) and Prof. Grabowski.

Siemens Software Testing Master Thesis Award 2006
The Master's Thesis "A Refactoring Tool for TTCN-3" has been awarded with the Siemens Software Testing Master Thesis Award 2006. This thesis investigates the systematic restructuring (refactoring) of tests which are specified using the Testing and Test Control Notation (TTCN-3). In addition to the world's first TTCN-3 refactoring catalogue, the TTCN-3 Refactoring and Metrics Tool TRex has been developed. The thesis has been written by Benjamin Zeiß during his time as Master student at the Software Engineering for Distributed Systems Group.
